Challenge: 28 Days of Lips (Days 6-11)

Gah! This is exactly what I didn't want to happen - something big comes up and throws me for a loop, causing me to fall behind on posting. Won't let that happen again! So today we have a whopping 6 days worth of products to look over. I've cut down some of the fluff so that this doesn't end up being the longest post ever...

2/6/2013 (Wednesday) - Day 6
MAC Plumful

This is one of my favorite MAC lipsticks. I definitely tend to shy away from super opaque or vampy colors - thanks to the lustre finish, this pink tinged plum keeps me in my comfort zone with the perfect balance of color and semi-opaqueness. It feels thin when applied and doesn't really moisturize or dry out my lips. This color lasts for 4 hours before I feel the need to reapply. I like that the plummy tones make it appropriate for fall and winter, while the slight pink tones make it equally fine to wear into the spring. Needless to say, I love this color!

2/7/2013 (Thursday) - Day 7
MAC Pure Zen

A few months ago, I watched a video from MakeupbyTiffanyD, where she was rocking a really nude lip and it looked amazing (the color was MAC Japanese Maple) and I needed to have it. So I went to the MAC website and bought it... and 4 other cremesheen lipsticks, with Pure Zen being one of them. Pure Zen is a peachy-beige with a touch of pink that is semi-opaque. Do not be alarmed by my swatches, it does NOT come off that orange on the lips! I do feel that its just a touch too warm for my skin tone, but if I balance it with some neutral-cool colors on my eyes, it works

2/8/2013 (Friday) - Day 8
Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie

Ahh, the day a little blizzard named "Nemo" paid us a visit. Since it was casual Friday, and we'd be working a short day due to the impending blizzard, I wanted something I could throw on and not worry about. This was the perfect answer. Berry Smoothie is one of my favorite lip butters, since it adds just the right amount of  'pop' to your face. It's uber-moisturizing and lasts for several hours. I've almost finished my first one (finishing a lip product is almost unheard of for me) and my backup is ready to roll when I do. If Revlon ever discontinues this line, I literally will stockpile several to have on hand

2/9/2013 (Saturday) - Day 9
Cle de Peau Extra Silky in #124

Look - it's glowing on its own!

Do you ever use a product and literally feel like, "wow - this is an amazing product"? I do, every single time I use this. It's the most creamy, dreamy, luxurious and amazingly beautiful product I've ever put on my lips. #124 is neutral pink with a soft shimmer. It has just the right amount of shine to it, just the right amount of color, and just the most unreal buttery texture that just makes me smile. It's got a lot of slip, but not goopy like some other similarly marketed products. The biggest drawback is the $52.00 price tag - ugh! But as I applied this I thought, "If I buy 3-4 lipsticks that I don't really like or use often, why not buy 1 of these that I know I'll love?" I might just have a point there ;)

2/10/2013 (Sunday) - Day 10
Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Boy

Chanel lip products hold a special place in my heart - I love the sleek, classic packaging, the click of the cap when you close it, the perfumed rose scent and those C's on the top make my heart race. And of all the Chanel I own, this takes the cake. The Rouge Coco Shine formula is a high end answer to the balm-y product craze. Moisturizing feel, softer colors and a nice shine. Boy is a soft mauve pink with tiny shimmer, and it applies like a dream. Due to the texture, it only lasts a couple hours on me, but I have no problem reapplying this! This is another product I'm close to finishing and will repurchase this.

2/11/2013 (Monday) - Day 11
NARS Pure Matte Lipstick in Bangkok

I don't like matte lips, I think they make people look dry and dead. Not a look I'm going for, that's for sure. I'd heard some buzz that the NARS Pure Matte formula was the "anti-matte matte" in terms of comfort and that Bangkok was pretty much the perfect color for fair gals like me, so I decided to give it a whirl. The color is a dusty neutral mid-tone pink, which works well as an everyday color. When I first applied it, it felt firm, but soft enough to apply without a lot of effort, and gave a nice suede finish. But after 4 hours, my lips felt and looked beyond parched. I couldn't take it any longer and applied some lip balm on top and gently wiped it away with a tissue. This is a challenge first - I could not wear this the whole day! :( I'm going to stick to a balm to rehydrate for the rest of the day, looks like I'll still be avoiding matte lips...

Well right, we made it through! I promise not to do 6 days in once again, that was rough :)
